It is saturday and for your enjoyment only, I will be giving you not 1 but 2 ‘back-to-the-70s’ movie based on Agatha Christie’s novels. No need to explain any further, because if you know her then you’ll probably have figured out who’s the main character. Which is of course, M. Hercule Poirot. The smart Belgian detective is, unfortunately, wasn’t accompanied by his loyal sidekick, Hastings in both films. Here he is, in the popular movie called

Death on the Nile

Death on the nile if you’re a fanatic towards Mrs. Christie’s books, you would probably have already read this the book, and thank God, I got the movie with a good quality picture (you know, for an old motion picture). Anyhow, in this Egypt background movie, Poirot was meant to go on a vacation but stumble upon some eccentric characters the night before his departure to Egypt. One person in particular is Misses Lynette Doyle. A great looking lady from America who was recently married to Simon Doyle. The twist is this, there’s one girl who has been following their honeymoon journey and her name was Jacqueline de Bellefort. But why is she following them? Why does she has a gun? (olala!) and yes, the Egyptian journey of fun turns into a night of terror when Jacqueline shot Simon’s leg and the next day, Mrs. Doyle was found dead.

Shot in the head when she was sleeping. The letter ‘J’ was written on the wall with her blood. Things got more excited when our beloved Poirot founds out that almost all of the S.S Karnak passengers is somehow linked to Mrs. Doyle. Like Miss Bowers who was forced into a life of servitude when Linnet’s father destroyed her family or the American lawyer, Andrew Pennington who is actually the lawyer of the Ridgeway family (Lynette maiden name) and perhaps her own main Louis Bourget wanted some of Lynette priced possessions? With a variety of personality in this movie, strange findings of clues and a plot that will take you on a journey inside a murderous mind, I think that you can be surprise by the ending.

Murder on the Orient Express

A cold blooded murder is in the train. With 12 stabs on his body, Mr. Rachett was found dead when he was asleep. The Orient Express carries high-classes people from Countess, Princess to even a businessman that is why this case is somehow hard to crack. Just the thought of a noble men or women can do such criminal is unthinkable. Before his death, Mr.Rachett tries to hire Poirot to secure him regarding the death threats that he recieved.

Murder on the Orient express

Poirot decline but he became suspicious of who would be sending and kill the American businessman.

While everybody is the suspect, except for Bianchi and Dr. Constantine with the help from Pierre Michael, the train conductor, Poirot tries to investigate Mr. Rachett’s past who turns out to be quite dark. He was involved with the kidnapping of Daisy Armstrong a few years ago (1930) that had a huge impact on the family. This fact explains why would anybody wants to kill him but Poirot still don’t know who did it. This murder is a conspiracy and may involved more than one or two person. A twisted story about rage and payback. And again, I adore Mrs. Christie’s ability to make such vivid and colorful personality. So a must see! And the fun is actually when you try and solve the murders yourself. You just feel like so pro!
