Debts should be repay. Then that’s what I shall do. As I promised last month, I will be writing about a certain someone, a champ in his work, a mover and shaker (literally). Let me unveil : Hafidh Ardani. Now working as the Restaurant Manager at Potato Head Beach Club, received the title Best Bartender of The Year and many more. The 38 years old that claims to love cooking oglio olio and carbonara spaghetti, reads John Grisham’s books and collects scarce jeans is the man you want to be mixing your drinks. Let’s check this mister out:

first of all, how did you even get attracted to this unconventional job?

Initially, because I don’t like working behind a desk-I don’t work well with computer-and I like to interact directly with the costumer, hence bartending seems to be the right choice.

share us your opinion on the plus and minus of being a bartender.

well, simply because it’s fun. the advantages are the opportunity to fuse drinks and make guests drunk. On the contrary I feel guilty making them drink in the first place.

if I say baertending is a cool job, do you agree with it? and why is that?

I completely agree. Bartending is not a monotonous world, there is always new creations and ideas. In addition, you have the opportunity to meet costumers from actors and actresses, businessman, officials, tourist, etc.

I have the coolest privileged ever. Because I am one of Provoke! Magazine (an awesome ALL FREE magazine for high schooler) representative, I got a free invitation to watch the movie “Modus Anomali” by the one and only Joko Anwar

Modus Anomali

In his 4th film, Joko Anwar as the director and writer deliver such chills and thrills. I can safely say that the twist in this movie is so sick and undeniably twisty in an uncomfortable way, this makes the list of ‘Much Watch Movie. Like for Real’ Because I’ve got to watch the movie before its nation’s release, I cannot tell ya’ll. I don’t want to be a spoiler and because it will not be the same if you already know the twisty witty end. All I can say is do not watch this film alone because you’ll be wanting to talk about it with someone, then do remind yourself to breathe because with the high tension in this epic motion picture, sometimes you just get caught up in the moment. We can blame the music director for this! There’s a great amount of silence in this movie that’ll make you think ‘okay, what’s next?’ but the music, when it does start, will make you say ‘No, Goddamit, NOO! I’m not ready for the next scene.’ You would also want to bring something to cover up the eye when there’s a wicked scene coming. And a lot of brains because this isn’t a kind of movie you watch ‘just for fun.’ The best part is, it’s an entire journey of a man’s mind. When you think you know what’s going on, YOU JUST DON’T.

When it came down to the Q and A session, this is what I got from Mr. Anwar:

  1. He doesn’t know where he got the inspiration, “I was tortured as a little kid.” and then he laughed. He also said “[I] spent too much time in the toilet [to get the inspiration.]
  2. The alarm clock is actually a reminder to him, if he’s going too far from his game. (Too far for what game? you just gotta see.

I can see why you're delighted

the Raid1alright folks, as I said once earlier I did see the movie The Raid (‘The Raid: Redemption’ known in America). This is how it goes: guns-hand combat-blood-hiding-hand combat-hardcore hand combat-blood-more hardcore hand combat-end. Overall, it was awesome to see how Indonesian movie got to be in American box office. This action pack movie got a twist in the end of the movie that, when it happened, I said “Whaaat?” Generally, it is violent and bloody with a bit of stabbing here and there. It’s not disgusting (in my opinion, anyway) but yeah, it is a violent movie. Director Gareth Evans has

The Raid2

successfully lead the actors who are also a Pencak Silat athletes (one of Indonesia’s many martial arts) to portray the character well. Not only that, the effect that he uses are so real and new to Indonesian films that it captures a lot of great moments. Although, 98% of the movie is about the fighting, this movie also depict religious devotion, loyalty and sentimental family love which is a good ‘break’ from all the dead bodies. I say, as a movie enthusiast that I DO LOVE this action movie. But as a citizen of Indonesia, I say this brings so much pride and to me is like a breath of fresh air to the movie industry. KUDOS!
